Everybody and every body, every person and every body type, deserves crochet and knit cardigans that fit their bodies.
Let go of your fear of making a cardigan for yourself and shame of your body, and start loving who you are right now. No more “I’ll make a sweater for myself when I lose the weight.”
For many of us, this is why we started crocheting and knitting, in order to make pieces that fit us perfectly because we’re able to find fun pieces in our size at the mall. I remember seeing popular pieces at the store and searching the racks for my size - nothing. Then, I’d head to the plus size section of the store hoping, to find that same piece… but the clothes in the plus size sections always looked like something my granny would wear. No shade, but I don’t want to dress like a 80 year old on her way to church when I’m in my 20s!
So I learned to crochet and knit to make pieces that would fit me. However, the patterns available wouldn’t fit me. This lack of sizing caused me, and maybe you too, to develop a lot of unhealthy thoughts about out bodies. Which kept us out of that part of the fiber industry. The part that we desperately wanted to be a part of and that we needed… but in turn hated us and made us hate ourselves.
Have you ever said to yourself, “I’ll have to lose the weight to fit this"? I have plenty of times.
Remember when Interweave magazines would drop those issues with sweaters and garments that were just so fire… but only went up to a 38” or 42” chest and that’s with the intent to be worn with positive ease, which meant the sweater was intended for bodies MUCH smaller than those finished chest measurements. I use to hoard those magazine copies because I just knew any day now I’d lose the weight and make one of them.
News flash, I never lost the weight.
And I’m okay with that because my body is amazing as it is. My body has brought me through much that the world has thrown at it and we’re still here. My body deserves to be loved on and not be forced to conform.
Let’s stop fighting against our bodies and start fighting FOR our bodies. We shouldn’t have to change for a pattern. Patterns should change and include us, all of us.
And that’s why I’ve created this pattern book with tips and tricks to make the patterns in this book and ANY pattern you might come across, fit you.
I show you how to modify patterns and make your own from scratch, starting with a swatch (yes, you gotta swatch if you want the thing to fit!), how to block and measure your swatch correctly, how to use simple math to calculate shaping and how much yarn you’re actually going to need, and so much more.
My hope is that, if you are like me, and you’ve struggled with your body because society say if you are of a certain weight you are undeserving of joy and beauty, that you will find in the book how to fall in love again with yourself and your body.
This book is me sending love to every body out there because all bodies are worthy bodies!
The book isn’t available yet - we’re still pulling the pieces together for you. Click the link below to be notified of progress⬇️
